I was at Grizzly Saturday 9-2-06 and they had a tools sale ,not a tent sale. I needed a new dust collector as my shop outgrew the old one. The G0440 is the one I got and I am in the process of setting that up today. I will give a report on the operation of it. I have 4 inch PVC plumbing in . This is a 7 inch intake so I am looking forward to seeing how it works. This unit can actually pull pressure as the inpellers are rather large. I also grabbed an 18 inch belt sander. The drums are economical but with the amount I need to sand I see the advatage to the belt and I will be happy to report on that tool as well. New toys to play with today. The sander will arrive in a week or so as I can't fit the sander on the truck john hall |

Cool deal John! I too made a bit Griz purchase this week, I got there edge sander and oscillating spindle sander,(the big one)! Plus I ordered 2 of there dusting collection kits to get all my tool tied in. |

I must tell you lance , On the osc sander use anti sieze on the sanding spindle shaft mating surfaces. I had 3 weld themselves into the main shaft. Seems they don't heat treat the mating surfaces and if there is a little room they will gall up and freeze. Not alot of fun though I can tear one down in less than an hour. Since the tech told me this I have had no problems. Also the wrenches they give you are cheap stamp outs , get a tappet wrench , they are thin and will do a much better job. Industrial abrasives have the replacement drums at a good price and they are great. they last a long time 1-800-428-2222 John Hall Blues Creek gutiars |

I have the 4 in pipe in and I agree that the static drop may be more than I like. I have some 7 inch flex pipe that I may run as the main and drop from that. Just want to see how this system will pull. The set up at the show room was on a simialar set up and the height pull was about 14 feet and I am pulling about 8. Thanks for the advice as I do think I may have to make a larger main just want to see what I have before pulling this out john |

bill prinz's sight gives a lot of technical data which supports the 6" pipe option. i'm just about ready to set up my 3 ph collector (just finished building and testing my phase converter)in my new premises and will be going with the 6". i found all the problems he talks about when i used the easier to find 4" before and don't want to do it again. and using my little portable is getting very tedious, not to mention relatively ineffective. 6" aluminium hand operated gates are about $12 on ebay. i have been thinking about getting the large grizzly or the more expensive jet which looks just about the same like most of the taiwanese machines. aside from the need for the anti seize application, any other comments about the machine, e.g., the trunnions and ease of table tilt, and any other thing you have noticed to be of interest or concern. |

Well that blows. We were going to be in Bellingham yesterday, so I scurried over to their site (all excited that I was going to a big toy shop) to get directions and hours. Only to find out that they are closed on Saturdays. After reading your post I had to go back and check. Yup, yours is open, mine is closed. How could a store that caters to professional and hobbiest alike be closed on Saturdays? Not everyone gets to work 4 tens. I don't get it. Oh well. 
John, congratulations on your score. I'm looking forward to hearing what you think about their dust collector. That's a project for next spring. |

Lance, I read your earlier post where you were thinking about the edge sander purchase. You got my curisity up so I went to their website and before the session was over I ended up buying the oscillating edge sander 
Two points: 1> You should get a referral discount. 2> My wife is going to kill me! This place gives you madness, both WAS and TAS. |

It took some serious set up . I finished all wiring. I have the 2 HP and run 220 Vac. This thing sicks the stink off manure. Yes I like it. I was afraid the 4 inch line may suffer but it is more than satisfactory. I can run 2 open lines and still suck dirt off the floor. Can't wait to get the sander. That should be here in a week or so. THe collector will make some noise but it isn't too bad. That is much better than the 650 cfm collector I had. This one will actually pull a vacuum like a shop vac.
